Organized worship is just to whet your appetite. If you don’t learn how to feed yourself upon the Word of God during the week, you will never grow. You’ll be sick and weak spiritually.

I’ve often said that it’s always a good idea to apply the acronym T.H.I.N.K. before we speak: Is it true? Is it helpful? Is it inspiring? Is it necessary? Is it kind? If what you’re about to say doesn’t meet those standards, then don’t say it.

Knowing who we are in Christ, understanding the unconditional love of a perfect father—it’s like [a] mineshaft of hope that brings light into our darkness. And yes, that hope is our way of escape. There’s no longer a need to feel trapped in an inescapable hole of sin and darkness. Hope has come!

We make the gospel unattractive when we live contrary to our beliefs. The gospel becomes unsavory and unattractive to those outside the church when our lives do not match up to what we say we believe.

Paul had a deep love for the people of Corinth and because of that love, he needed to steer them the correct way. Unfortunately, even when there is loving intent, any corrective action can be seen as mean. This is why we must make every effort to walk in love and grace when we are confronting others or being confronted.

The tongue is called "a sword." This sword has certainly damaged, bruised, wounded, and killed more people than all the swords in all the wars since history began. You've seen it many times. That newly married couple - so lovey-dovey for days and days on end. But one day the fellow lost his temper and slashed into the heart and affections of his wife with uncontrollable anger and with words he might regret forever. But it was said. The damage was done. How often we need to remember that old saying: We cannot call back the arrow we've shot into the air, the water under the bridge, or the spoken word.

(ed: I know this is much longer than a normal Selah, but I truly believe God would have me share this with you today! It comes from "Iran Alive Ministries" and shows the miraculous power of God to change a Muslim heart to a Jesus heart. I believe you too will be in awe praising God for His great power in even the smallest of acts. This is a testimony of a 23-year-old girl named Helena.)

I was raised in a very religious and devoted Muslim family. We did not have a satellite dish for many years because my parents believed it would bring immorality into our household and would lead us away from the truth. But I always wanted to have a satellite dish. I felt jealous when my friends talked about the programs that they were watching on satellite TV. I prayed to God, "Please allow me to have a satellite dish. I promise not to be seduced by it and keep my Islamic faith." To my amazement, the following week, my married older sister bought a TV and satellite dish and gave it as a gift to our family. She made me promise to watch Islamic channels only.

However, when I turned on the TV, I saw that the first channel was programmed to Iran Alive's Channel Shabakeh 7. (Later, we found out that the person who had installed our dish and receiver was a Christian). So, every time we turned on our TV, it would automatically go to your channel and we had to watch it for at least a few seconds. The few words I heard each time really touched my heart. I became curious and watched your channel when nobody was around. After two months of watching your program, I realized how wrong the beliefs of Islam are. Through your channel, I found out that Jesus is not the prophet that Islam talks about, but the living Lord. So, I called your channel and prayed with your counsellors to receive salvation.

My heart was filled with so much joy that I immediately told my mother about it. She became very angry and slapped me hard. She told me that I was unclean. She would not touch me nor allow me to eat with the rest of the family.

I started praying for my mom, believing that the Lord would show Himself to her at the right time. After a while, when my mom saw how I was changed and how I was calm and respectful toward her, even when she was angry and cursing me, she became curious. One night she told me: "Turn on the TV and show me what you have watched that made such a big difference in your life." It was a Friday. So, I tuned in to your weekly live Friday church service. My mom cried all through the worship service and your sermon. At the end of the sermon, when Pastor Hormoz invited viewers to come to Christ and repeat the prayer of salvation after him, my mom did.

After that, my mom boldly told others about Christ. The rest of our family broke up with us, but we pursued them. The family persecuted us and we went through a period of tough times. But after a while, my sister and several other family members came to Christ also.

So, watching your programs did not lead us away from the truth, but led us toward the truth.

(ed: how might God use YOU as a channel for His love to someone in need today? Please pray for Muslims who need to be saved in the U.S. as well as Iran!) Praise be to our Lord Jesus Christ! (And thank you for allowing me to share this amazing story with you).

When we turn from the sin, guilt and worries that make us tense and tight, we rest. As the lifestyle of trust in God develops in our souls, we find our strength and are settled in His quietness.

How do you know if you are Christlike? Your conduct will be consistent with the character of the Savior. You constantly grow more into His image, becoming more like Him this year than you were last year, more like Him today than you were yesterday.

In our manner of speech, our plans of living, our dealings with others, our conduct and walk in the church and out of it—all should be done as becomes the gospel (Phil. 1:27).

God would not rub so hard if it were not to fetch out the dirt that is ingrained in our natures. God loves purity so well He had rather see a hole than a spot in His child's garments.

We fear men so much, because we fear God so little. One fear cures another. When man's terror scares you, turn your thoughts to the wrath of God.

If a man would lead a happy life, let him but seek a sure object for his trust [or faith], and he shall be safe: "He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord." He has laid up his confidence in God, therefore his heart is kept in an equal poise.

When we are finally done with our race here and are with the Lord we may look back and think, "WHY did I worry so much? The Lord had everything under control! And he accepts me by grace because of Jesus, not because of anything I have DONE or DO for him."
