When we look at the Scriptures, we discover two critical truths about the way Jesus relates to us: He always does what is in our best interests eternally (Romans 8:28), and He wants us to know that our relationship with Him is absolutely secure. It will never be broken (John 10:28-29, Romans 8:37-39)

It is requisite for the relaxation of the mind that we make use, from time to time, of playful deeds and jokes. (ed: Thomas has a good point, but don't go overboard with this. However, …enjoy life and being with others. Even Jesus had and used humor [i.e.…the LOG in your eye, just picture that!])

It's Friday …and Sunday's coming! Are you looking forward to gathering with your brothers and sisters in Christ to worship Jesus? Not every detail of a worship service may be to your liking, but we don't gather because it gives us "warm fuzzies." We gather to love Jesus and those who also have come to love Him! If you assemble together with your fellow worshippers this Sunday, you will not be disappointed… if your focus is on Jesus!

Sometimes we forget that …whatever we do, we are to do it with all our might as to the Lord, and not for those around us …(Colossians 3:23). When we are doing what we do for the Lord Himself, it brings great satisfaction to us, no matter what others may say. We should be so in love with Jesus, that all our actions will show Him our love! Why do you do the things you do? Don't worry what others think, just simply express your love to Jesus! Is He pleased?

Gratefulness is the outworking of the fruit of the spirit that is developing within us. It shows to others that we appreciate the kindnesses shown to us. We recognize our unworthiness and graciously accept, with thanksgiving, that others have expressed kindness to us. How often are we grateful for the little things that come to us every day? Let the fruit of the Spirit ripen in our lives that we may be truly grateful for all things! God has blessed us abundantly: express your gratefulness to Him …and to others!

Every follower of Jesus has all the fruits of the Spirit, because every follower of Jesus has the Holy Spirit! Some fruits, however, still need developing within us. They are not immediately mature! But when the Spirit of God has those fruits within us, we have all the fruits. And the closer we walk with Jesus, being led by the Spirit, the more… and quicker… those fruits come to maturity.

The doctrine of the cross is not that there is life after death, but that there is life instead of death. The cross of Christ proclaimed the profound and precious paradox that death was dead. Death is an impossible threat to the man who discovers the life which emanates from the cross.

Abiding [in Christ] is unreserved compliance because of a complete capitulation to the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a full appropriation of the fruit of the Spirit because of full allegiance to the Savior. It is the devotion to do His bidding at all times because of His indwelling within our hearts.

Part of the difficulty in becoming a servant comes from the fact that someone else may get the credit that we feel we deserve. We want to be recognized and considered important. We need to remember the sign that read, 'There is no limit to the good that a man can do, if he doesn't care who gets the credit'

When we accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us (Romans 15:7), we are able to become blessings to others and instruments of God whereby He uses us to develop not only the image of Christ in another person through us, but He develops that image of Christ in us as well! How many people might be a little more Christlike, if we had only been faithfully extending God's acceptance to them? Think about it! We are the vessels God has chosen to reach others for Him!

God gives us many things out of sheer generosity, without being asked. The reason why He wants to give us some things in response to our petition is that it is profitable for us to acquire . . . confidence in running to Him and to recognize that He is the source of all that is good for us.

If our delight is in the Lord then He will transform our desires so that they will actually reflect His desires. He will enable us to want what He wants. He will then satisfy those wants. The Lord has no intention of fulfilling our former desires, but if we're experiencing Christian contentment it won't matter to us. How wonderful!

Caring is a quality we can all learn. Get close enough to others to see their needs. Be observant, and be a good listener. And be willing to do what you can to help.

Begin where you are. Do what you can. Then trust God to lead you on and to enable you to do a little more.

Perhaps you are currently experiencing a loud, dark storm in your life and you see no way to escape the deluge. Perhaps your somber spirit is cringing with foreboding of what you think will come and you're haunted with fear, drenched with discouragement, and waterlogged with worry.

Don't lose heart! …You are being sheltered by the Most High, in the shadow of the Almighty. "He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler" (Ps. 91:4). No one can snatch you out of your Father's Hand (John 10:28). Nor will He leave you destitute and defenseless for, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Phil. 4:19).

Don't fear the storms in your life. Embrace them. And thank God for the opportunity they give you to experience His amazing grace.

I am very grateful to our God for allowing me to live in the USA. But I thank God with all my heart that my hope and freedoms are not governed by earthly powers. Give thanks to God today for our Country and for those who have fought to keep our freedoms intact. But, give thanks to God today most of all for the new life that is in us now through Jesus' abiding presence within His people and for the life that is yet to come in the Kingdom of which Jesus shall reign and rule!
